Lu Liang: Student volunteers competent in their work
(Beijing, September 22) With the opening of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Mountain Bike Invitational Competition on September 22, the volunteers in orange uniforms at the Laoshan Mountain Bike Course became extremely busy answering people's questions or delivering result sheets as soon as they came out. They were the group of people that could be seen everywhere at the venue and were needed most.
According to Lu Liang, volunteers manager at the Laoshan venue, there are a total of 542 volunteers for today's mountain bike event, who come from 10 universities in Beijing and are responsible for different work at the venue, namely protocol for Beijing International Studies University, language service for Beijing Foreign Studies University, media operation for Communication University of China, competition management for Capital Institute of Physical Education and Beijing Sport University, doping control for Capital Medical University and medical service for Peking Union Medical College. In addition, there were also some doctors and nurses who offered voluntary services as medical professionals.
All the volunteers have undergone strict training and examination and taken up their posts with a certificate. Most of them have worked for the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup held here last August. As Lu Liang put it, those who have proved to be competent in their work will continue to render their service for next year's Olympic Games.
